Ann Fisher retires

After 34 years service, staff nurse Ann Fisher retired from NHS Lanarkshire in September.
Ann, who was based in the emergency department at Wishaw General Hospital,
began her career in 1981 as an enrolled nurse. She thereafter worked with care of the elderly in ‘D’ block at Law Hospital before moving to wards 24, 19 and 18 in the medical wards in ‘C’ block. Ann also had a spell in ward 15 (orthopaedics) and ward three (surgical admissions).
When Law Hospital closed, Ann moved to Wishaw General Hospital where she worked in the critical care unit (CCIU) for a few months before moving to the emergency care unit (ECU).
During her time at Wishaw, Ann converted from an enrolled nurse to a registered general nurse (RGN) and, after moving to the emergency department, became a MINTS practitioner.
Ann has had various posts in NHS Lanarkshire and has worked with many people during her career.
Ann is married to Jim and lives in Wishaw. She has two sons Jim and Mark (who recently married Ciara) and a grandson, James.
In her spare time, Ann enjoys spending time with her family, card making, walking her three dogs and annual holiday with her work friends, which will see them visiting Berlin in November.
Charge nurse, Allison McKenna, said: “I have had the pleasure of working with Ann since her move to the emergency department. Ann has been an asset to the minor injuries team at Wishaw General. She is extremely generous and is always bringing in cakes for the staff. She is a hard working member of our team who will be missed but we all wish Ann a long, healthy and happy retirement”.
