Daniel’s close shave raises thousands

Clinical services secretary Collette Hamill is bristling with delight after her brother raised nearly £4000 for charity by shaving off his bushy beard.
NHS Lanarkshire staff were among the generous supporters who sponsored Daniel Hamill to have his face fuzz chopped after he’d grown it for two years.
Daniel raised around £3750 in aid of cancer support charity Maggie’s Lanarkshire, based at Monklands Hospital in Airdrie.
Collette, who works at the Buchanan Centre in Coatbridge, said: “We received donations from NHS Lanarkshire staff, including colleagues at Airdrie Health Centre, Monklands Hospital, Kilsyth Health Centre and the Buchanan Centre. A big thanks to everyone.”
Collette and Daniel’s mum Isabel sadly died of lung cancer in 2014 and he raised the cash in her memory with the support of his sister, dad Des and brother Gerard.
