Anne heads off for happy retirement

After 35 years’ service, physiotherapist Anne McAloon retired from NHS Lanarkshire in May.

Anne, who worked in the physiotherapy department at Wishaw General Hospital, qualified as a physiotherpist from Queens College, Glasgow in 1981.

She then took up employment with NHS Lanarkshire at Monklands Hospital where she spent time in a promoted post between Coathill Hospital and Drumpark School.

In 1988, Anne took up the post of senior 1 physio at Stobhill Hospital, initially working in the orthopaedic clinics and latterly as lead clinician in the orthopaedic wards.

In 1999, Anne again took up employment with NHS Lanarkshire, initially at Law Hospital and latterly at Wishaw General Hospital, where she remained until her retirement.

Anne lives in Airdrie with her husband Paul. They have a son Sean, 25, and a daughter Louise, 30.

Colleague Jackie Farnell said: “Anne is one of a kind. From her first day as a physio she loved her job. Her work ethic, commitment and years of skills and experience will be missed by all of us, especially her loud, infectious laugh and that cheeky sense of humour.

“We all wish her well and hope she has a long and fun-filled retirement with all her family”.
