Are you ready for Patient Safety Week?

We’re gearing up for Patient Safety Week, which runs from 24-28 October.

The event marks the launch of a refreshed Prioritised Patient Safety Plan following two years of successful work by the Patient Safety Reducing Harm Collaborative.

There will be information stalls and staff events throughout the week:

  • Monday 24 October – Airdrie Community Health Centre;
  • Tuesday 25 October – Hunter Community Health Centre, East Kilbride;
  • Wednesday 26 October – Monklands Hospital;
  • Thursday 27 October – Wishaw General Hospital;
  • Friday 28 – Hairmyres Hospital.

Head of patient safety and improvement Jane Murkin said: “Patient Safety Week is an excellent opportunity for all staff to participate in activities to raise the profile of patient safety, share successes and achievements to date and focus on the next stage of priorities for colleagues.

“Throughout the week the following activities will be taking place across both health and social care partnerships and the three acute sites:

  • A local patient safety stand and drop-in area for staff
  • Visits to wards and departments to speak to staff about what patient safety means to them;
  • Lunchtime sessions hosted by the Patient Safety Team and site chiefs and staff to share successes to date;
  • Quality improvement labs with a focus on patient safety hosted by the safety team and safety and quality fellows;
  • Asking patients/visitors to share how safe their stay or visit was and what patient safety means to them.

“In addition, during October all staff are being offered the opportunity to share their thoughts by completing a patient safety culture survey.”
