And the winner is…medicine for the elderly team
The Medicine for the Elderly team at Monklands Hospital scooped the award for ‘top team’ at the Scottish Health Awards 2014 in recognition of their invaluable contribution to Scottish healthcare.
The multi-disciplinary team were awarded for their work to improve standards of care within their speciality which has resulted in greater patient engagement and shorter hospital stays.
The award also acknowledged the work to modified outdated wards to make them dementia-friendly and trained staff in the skills required to care for elderly and frail patients.
The team were praised for the new methods they have introduced and for ‘bending over backwards to help patients’.
