Health improvement staff at HMP Shotts raise money for charity

As part of the Healthy Working Lives scheme HMP Shotts arranged a charity football match at Ravenscraig Regional Sports facility. The event was held on Saturday the 24th of June with prison staff being split into 2 teams, Lamont United and Allanton Athletic.

Jenny Hunter health improvement practitioner for Lanarkshire health and social care partnership, said: “We run this football event every year, with each year funds are raised for a different local charity. Staff at the prison really enjoy this event and look forward to it each year. It is a good chance for staff to get together outside of work, do some physical activity and raise money for some great charities.”

The trophies were presented to the winning team by The Wishaw Multiple Sclerosis support group’s president Evy Martin.

Prisoners also participated in a 5k event with funds rose also going towards the Wishaw Multiple Sclerosis Support group. Both events raised £480.88 for the group. Paul Mulholland (Production Manager, HMP Shotts) and Colin McEwan (Officer Instructor, HMP Shotts) along with Jenny Hunter attended the group at the Wishaw Baptist Church in order to present the cheque.
