NHS Lanarkshire gets ready to walk Japan

NHS Lanarkshire is gearing up for their second organisation wide walking challenge in Walk Japan, which officially kicks off on Thursday 14th September. Healthy Working Lives are hoping to build on the success of their first challenge Walk California, where more than 650 staff participated in the challenge.

The aim for this challenge is to walk an incredible 1,349,108 steps together and navigate through a virtual tour of the Jewels of Japan over a 4 week period.

The Healthy Working Lives team have been inundated with anecdotes and ‘good news’ stories from staff reporting things like weight loss, improved fitness levels and general camaraderie with colleagues and other departments alike following the completion of Walk California.

The Walk California challenge certainly seemed to capture the imagination of many staff along with some healthy competition and the hope is that Walk Japan will be an even bigger success.

Registration is currently open to take part in Walk Japan and you can register at https://hwl.bigteamchallenge.com

This is a challenge for everyone, for those who want to work in teams and individuals as well. Who can walk the furthest or who can complete the route in the shortest time? It’s about setting personal goals though; this might be an introduction to becoming more physically active or it might be about improving fitness levels. It doesn’t have to be about finishing first.

There’s certainly something for everyone in Walk Japan and we hope that people register and enjoy being part of something that’s happening across the whole organisation.
