Helen Gilchrist Retires

Friends, family and colleagues bid a fond farewell to Helen Gilchrist who retired in April after a remarkable 42 years service.
The senior physiotherapist, who was based at Lockhart Hospital in Lanark, trained in physiotherapy at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
In 1973 Helen joined NHS Lanarkshire as a basic grade physiotherapist at Law Hospital, however, soon rose to the rank of deputy superintendent.
After taking a year off to have her daughter, Helen returned to Law Hospital on a part-time basis where she remained until 1987.
Helen thereafter moved into the community and provided a physiotherapy service that covered the Motherwell and Clydesdale areas, dividing her time between Lockhart, Lady Home and Kello Hospitals.
Helen lives in Carluke with her husband Peter. She has two daughters Jane (33) and Susan (30) who live locally in Lanark. Helen is looking forward to the birth of her grandchild in October.
In her spare time Helen enjoys gardening and socialising. To mark her retirement, Helen has planned a holiday to Madrid and, in the summer, will travel to Cuba.
