Kathryn Hamilton Retires

After 24 years service, medical secretary Kathryn Hamilton retired from the NHS in February.

Kathryn began her career with NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde as medical secretary to consultant vascular surgeon Mr Pollock.  She thereafter joined NHS Lanarkshire where she became medical secretary to Mr Knight, department of surgery and clinical director Julian Goldring at Hairmyres Hospital.

Kathryn briefly left NHS Lanarkshire to start a new venture with her husband, however, returned to the oncology day unit at Hairmyres Hospital where she remained until her retirement.

Cancer service manager Margaret Kelly said: “Kathryn has worked tirelessly for NHS Lanarkshire as a dedicated medical secretary and for the last years of her career in cancer services.  Her devotion to do the role well has been exemplary – ensuring that letters for patients diagnosed with cancer in Hairmyres are sent to GPs and onward for treatment.  It is now time for Kathryn to enjoy more of family life but a huge thank you from myself and the team for her commitment and outstanding work.  We will miss her tremendously”.
