Finding out what matters

Health and social care staff are once again being encouraged to participate in the ‘What Matters to you? Day’ on 6 June 2018.

Irene Barkby, executive director of nursing, midwifery and allied health professions, said: “We’ll be encouraging staff to share their highlights and insights of conversations they have had with patients and carers to find out and act on what matters to them.

“We know that this approach to partnership working supports realistic medicine and improves shared decision making. With this crucial insight we are in a much better position to work with the person to find the best way forward for them.”

If you’d like to participate you should:
1. Register as individuals or as teams at: www.whatmatterstoyou.scot, where you can also order or download resources
2. Have a particular focus on “what matters to you?”conversations on or around 6 June.
3. Act on the conversations and do something different to help the person achieve what matters to them.
4. Collect stories and share your experiences at www. whatmatterstoyou.scot
