Monklands Replacement/Refurbishment Project design workshops
The Monklands Replacement/Refurbishment Project team will hold design workshops for 10 of the key departments for the new University Hospital Monklands: assessment unit; cancer unit; critical care unit; emergency department; endoscopy; imaging; outpatient areas (covering seven services); laboratories; radiotherapy and theatres.
The workshops will take place between 21-31 May, with the exception of theatres (15 May) and outpatient dermatology (17 May).
They will help produce a ‘reference design’ for what the new hospital will look like, to cost it ahead of submission of the outline business case and let potential contractors understand the requirements and complete the detailed design.

No decision has yet been taken on the location of the new hospital so designs will not be site specific.
