Project Search welcomes new intake

Project Search graduates

Monday 26 August saw the new intake of 24 students begin their journey on the 2019/20 programme Project Search, marking the project’s ten-year anniversary.

Project Search is a partnership involving NHS Lanarkshire, North and South Lanarkshire Council, New College Lanarkshire, ISS and Serco and offers young students with additional support needs a work-focused college course in tandem with on-the-job work experience.

John White, director of HR for NHS Lanarkshire, commented on the ten-year partnership and said: “Since the launch of the project it has made a huge difference to the lives of the young people who have taken part, by providing hands-on work experience as well as the confidence to help them prepare for future employment.

“With some 80 per cent of the graduates securing employment, the project is considered successful. It also shows how young people with additional support needs can, and do, make a valuable contribution in the workplace.

“I would like to take the opportunity to welcome the 2019/20 students to the programme and hope they will enjoy their time with Search Lanarkshire.”
