Retirement of Anne Bartie

Retirement of Anne Bartie

After 18 years service, treatment room nurse Anne Bartie retired from NHS Lanarkshire in May.

Anne, who was based at Strathaven Health Centre, began her nursing training in 1974 at Stonehouse Hospital and, upon qualifying, worked in the ophthalmology unit.

Anne left the NHS for a period to marry George, who also worked at Stonehouse Hospital as a porter, and have her family.

After bringing up her family, Anne returned to NHS Lanarkshire where she worked nightshift at Stonehouse Hospital before moving to Kirkdean nursing home.

In January 1997, Anne joined Strathaven Health Centre where she worked within the Avondale Practice and latterly the treatment room, a role in which she remained until her retirement.

Anne and George live at Kype Reservoir, several miles from Strathaven. They have a few neighbours closeby but are mainly surrounded by countryside and wildlife.  They enjoy visiting cottages up and down the country and hope one day to buy a motor-home and, together with their dog Max, visit more parts of the country.

Anne has three daughters who all live in Glasgow.  In her spare time, Anne enjoys spending time with her family, especially her mum who she takes out shopping and for lunch.

Colleague Ruth Hastings said: “Anne will be missed greatly by both patients and colleagues. Her calm, friendly nature makes her a popular member of staff. We wish her a long and happy retirement and hope she won’t miss us too much”.
