After a remarkable 41 years service Josie Davidson retires

Friends, family and colleagues gathered to bid a farewell to Josie Davidson who retired from her post as advanced specialist midwife risk manager after a remarkable 41 years service.

Josie, who was based within maternity services at Wishaw General Hospital, joined the NHS in 1974 when she underwent her nursing training at Stonehouse Hospital. On qualifying in 1978, Josie moved to Bellshill Maternity where she completed her training in midwifery.
On the closure of Bellshill Maternity in 2001, Josie transferred to the maternity unit at Wishaw General Hospital where she took up the post of risk manager, a role in which she remained until her retirement.
Josie has won prizes at Glassford flower show for her jam and crafts making and is well known for supplying staff with tray bakes at study days and meetings. Josie was brought up in Stonehouse and moved to Glassford when she married her husband David. Josie has two children Alan (35) and Claire (31) plus five grandchildren and is looking forward to spending more time with them on her retirement.
Colleague Geraldine Morgan said: “I don’t know what we will do without her. A much well thought of person who not only is an excellent risk manager but is a very caring and considerate person and great friend”.
