Alison Graham retires

After a remarkable 38 years service, Alison Graham, health and safety advisor, retired from NHS Lanarkshire in July.

Alison, who was based at Monklands Hospital, Airdrie, started her career in the NHS in 1976 when she joined the trainee catering scheme.

In 1981 Alison was promoted to catering manager at Ruchill Hospital, a position she held for eight years.

Alison thereafter moved to Stobhill Hospital as deputy catering manager where she remained until 2001.

Alison became health and safety co-ordinator in 2001 and, in 2002, joined Salus as occupational health and safety advisor, a role in which she remained until her retirement.

Alison lives in Torrance with her husband Jim and their two dogs.  Alison has one son and a daughter.

In her spare time, Alison regularly attends dog training classes with her latest spaniel pup.  She is a very keen runner and meets friends on a regular basis to run cross country through the local areas.  Alison is a keen historian and is part of the local historian group, being actively involved in organising events etc.

Gordon Gray, head of health and safety, said: “Alison’s determination and commitment to improving safe working practice in NHS Lanarkshire has been of significant benefit to Salus and NHS Lanarkshire. Since joining Salus, Alison has taken responsibility for a number of different projects and work initiatives.

In recent years Alison has provided health and safety advice, guidance and support to the Monklands management team and staff as well as the North community health partnership and corporate divisions.

It has been a privilege for me to work with Alison and, on behalf of Salus, I would like to acknowledge and thank Alison for the many years of service and offer Alison our best wishes in retirement”.
