Andrew and his elves illustrate real meaning of Christmas

Andrew Craig, Medical Illustration design team leader, took time out of his Christmas to play Santa and brighten the day of some of the older patients at Hairmyres.
Andrew is a Scout leader so his elves were 20 of his Beaver and Cub Scouts, from 6th East Kilbride, who also generously spent some of their Christmas Day on ward 16.
Andrew said: “Senior charge nurse Lorraine Bennett helped us arrange the Christmas morning visit.
“We dropped in to deliver presents and then went back with hand-made cards that the Beavers had made, to sit and chat with all of the ‘nannies and granddads’. A few of our group who attend a local Gaelic unit went room to room singing a Gaelic song for the patients.
“We were there for a couple of hours – looking to brighten up what can be a sad time for patients – while at the same time helping the children, with the support of their families, to learn about the real meaning behind Christmas and how we can all help others in our community.”
