Another week and another award for NHS Lanarkshire

Another week and another award for NHS Lanarkshire was highlighted in the press as the NHS Lanarkshire Care Homes Pharmacy Service, won the Innovation & Change in Pharmacy Practice category at the Scottish Pharmacist Awards.
The team picked up the gong for a pioneering initiative involving pharmacists in care homes.

Many of the local newspapers carried the story that senior management completed the 100th safety leadership walk round.
Chief executive Calum Campbell, chair Neena Mahal and Jane Murkin, head of patient safety and improvement, visited the radiology department at Hairmyres Hospital.
The walk rounds enable departments across the organisation to have an open discussion with management about patient safety and receive help to rectify any issues at the highest level.
The press also helped to raise awareness of World Kidney Day and remind people that GP surgeries will be closed over Easter.
Although the week was mainly positive, The Herald and Daily Record highlighted that more than 92,000 patients have waited in casualty beyond the Government target since weekly figures began to be published a year ago. The articles made reference to patients waiting more than 12 hours at Hairmyres Hospital and eight hours Wishaw General Hospital.
Clinical and managerial staff have been working very hard to reduce waiting times in our emergency departments and it is worth noting that recent figures show a welcome improvement compared to the same period last year.
