Be ready for the bad weather that’s on its way

The Met Office is forecasting that over the next 24 hours the Strathclyde region will experience squally wintry showers, with snow to low levels later.
Make sure you are prepared.
Things to do now
• Read NHS Lanarkshire’s Adverse Conditions Policy on FirstPort – CLICK HERE
• Know how your options for getting to work in the event of severe weather. What bus route would you take? Could you take the train
• Know how you’d get to an alternative NHS Lanarkshire site.
• Plan alternative child care arrangements in case the schools and nurseries are closed.
• Keep a winter weather kit in your car with items such as an ice scrapper, shovel, blanket and something to eat and drink. For more information see www.readyscotland.org.
Things to do when severe weather hits
• Make every reasonable effort to get to your usual workplace. NHS Lanarkshire considers all staff essential – especially during severe weather. Only heads of department have discretion to decide that staff do not need to attempt to get to their work due to the conditions.
• If you can’t make it your usual workplace, contact your manager as soon as possible.
• You might agree with your manager that you could go to an alternative location. Contact the relevant manager first. Do not turn up unannounced.
