Bert McNaughton retires

After 31 years service, Bert McNaughton retired from his post as portering services manager in February.

Bert, who worked with the property and support services division (PSSD) at Law House, began his working career in March 1977 when he gained employment with British Leyland, a post he held until February 1984.

On 10 April 1985, Bert joined NHS Lanarkshire as a porter/driver and, in April 1991, was promoted to deputy supervisor. In 1994, Bert took up the post of head porter before becoming transport and portering officer in January 2002.

In March 2002, Bert moved to Strathclyde Hospital where he took on the role of acting transport and portering manager which led to Bert’s post becoming substantive in June 2003, a role in which he remained until his retirement.

June Levick, head of hotel services, said: “Bert has been a very valuable member of the team who has seen many changes throughout this career with NHS Lanarkshire. We wish him well for the future”.
