The ECMHT in Clydesdale have embraced the model of collaborative working and integration of Health and Social Care.
This has been achieved by delivering Stress and Distress for Carers sessions within the Clydesdale Day Centres and promoting community networking events. These sessions are offered to support people who are caring for loved ones living with moderate to advanced stage dementia.
This was delivered over seven weeks to identify what stress and distress means to both the patient and their carer, with a focus on developing a formulation and intervention plan. Following the successful completion of our first group and in conjunction with Dementia Awareness week we invited the participants and their loved to join us in a celebratory tea dance which was enjoyed by all.
Each attendee felt they had embraced this learning opportunity and felt empowered to continue in their caring role. The experience of the collaborative working has been well received in the Clydesdale locality and we aim to continue to deliver this good practice with the second group already underway.
