Charity ball success for The Haven

Charity ball success for The Haven

There was success for The Haven charity, which has a centre at Wishaw General, as their annual ball netted over £9000.

The evening, hosted by DJ Steve McKenna in the Alona Hotel in Motherwell, was attended by over 170 guests, who enjoyed music from the Rock Choir and The Michael Brawley Big Band.

Fizz, fun and fundraising filled the night which was enjoyed by all, with guests ranging from corporate supporters, local businesses, Haven volunteers and clients. Support for the evening came in all forms, from auction and raffle prizes, sponsorship, a volunteer photographer Adam Law and much more.

Haven fundraising officer David Henson was part of the team who organised the event.

He said: “It was great to see a room full of people enjoying themselves and getting fully involved in all aspects of the evening and helping raise an incredible amount for The Haven. It was a blend of existing and new supporters who attended, where some learned more about the wide range of free support services The Haven has to offer, which we hope will help spread awareness and encourage individuals, families and carers to attend.

“The night could not have run so smoothly without our team of Haven volunteers, who attended to our guests, and our host and entertainment certainly ensured there was something for everyone on the night.

“The feedback has been so positive, which makes all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes worth it. We really cannot thank everyone enough for their support. The Haven Fundraising team are already looking at a date for next year, so watch this space!”

‘You shall go to the ball’ competition winner, Heather Gilfillan, who won two free tickets to the event, added: “Thanks so much for letting me be part of it. The whole night was brilliant.

“I enjoyed every minute, from the choir, to the big band and the host. The meal was lovely and staff were friendly. It was all so well organised. The whole night went in so fast. Well done to The Haven team.”

The Haven, which has three centres, located in Blantyre, Wishaw and Forth, relies heavily on community and corporate support to raise vital funds to support individuals, families and carers in Lanarkshire who are affected by life-limiting illness and turn to The Haven at a very difficult time in their lives.

If you are interested in supporting this charity, The Haven event calendar has something for everyone throughout the year, including The Haven Christmas Shopping Extravaganza on Sunday, 29 October, Doubletree Hilton Hotel Strathclyde, a psychic night in Blantyre Miners Welfare on 17 November, and a mixed Burns night on 9 February, in John Carrigans, Blantyre.
