Fairwarning
NHS Lanarkshire takes the confidentiality of personal information and its responsibilities under the Data Protection Act very seriously.
The FairWarning system identifies when patient information has been accessed inappropriately to protect confidentiality of electronic patient records.
Unless you are treating a patient or managing the admin to support treatment you must not access:
- your own information
- friends and family member information
- colleague information
- high-profile patient information.
However, the Fairwarning system has shown that staff are continuing to access health records when they shouldn’t and the number of data protections breaches continues to rise.
As a result, NHS Lanarkshire is adopting a zero tolerance approach and all alleged breaches will be investigated through the ‘Effective Management of Employee Conduct’ policy.
