Happy first birthday to The Haven at Wishaw

Happy first birthday to The Haven at Wishaw

The Haven, in the grounds of Wishaw General Hospital, is celebrating its first birthday on 3 August, so why not pop in and enjoy some birthday cake with them?

Haven nurse Fiona Davidson said: “I am the centre nurse for Wishaw and it has been a refreshing challenge setting up a new Haven and reaching out to even more clients.

“It has been a very quick and rewarding year and we are hoping that the centre will become a ‘go to’ place of support. We would be delighted if you encouraged anyone who you think would benefit from our service to just drop in.”

The centre in Wishaw is situated in the doctors’ residence in Netherton House, and clients can benefit from its location, popping in before or after hospital appointments, making the most of this non-clinical and relaxed environment for the support and information they have and need. The centre is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm. No referral is needed.

The Haven is a registered charity which has been running for 14 years with centres now in Blantyre, Forth and Wishaw. It provides emotional support to people affected by a range of life-limiting illnesses, and this support is also offer to family members and carers. Services include one-to-one nurse appointments, holistic therapies, peer support groups and more.
