Haven announces return of ladies’ lunch

On Sunday 25 March, women from all over Lanarkshire will come together for a ladies’ lunch to support and raise funds for local charity, The Haven.
The Haven, which has a site at University Hospital Wishaw, provides much-needed support to individuals, families and carers who have been affected by a wide range of life-limiting illnesses, such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, Huntington’s disease and dementia.
This year the charity will be hoping to smash its fundraising target at its first lunch since 2012 and is calling on ladies from across the county to help them achieve this and ensure the lunch is a fixture in the diary for years to come.
The lunch, which is taking place in the DoubleTree By Hilton Strathclyde Hotel in Bellshill will be hosted by radio personality Suzie McGuire (pictured) with special guests The Ultimate Jersey Boys.
It will be a day filled with fun, laughter, good food and fizz. There will be a range of stalls selling handbags, jewellery and lots more as well as the chance to win a number of fantastic prizes at auction and raffle.
June Sutherland, services manager at The Haven, said: “Not only will the lunch be an excellent day out you will also be helping to change the lives of those affected by life-limiting illnesses.
“In 2015, we embarked on a successful expansion of Haven services which increased our capacity to support even more client groups across Lanarkshire. We now operate three Haven centres located in Blantyre, Wishaw and most recently, Forth.
“The demand for our support services will only continue to increase and this event will help us to raise funds that will ensure we are able to offer help to those who need it.”
A client of The Haven said: “The genuine openness and support you get and the friendliness of the people involved in caring and supporting people affected by illness is second to none. The Haven is a lifeline to many.”
The Haven’s multidisciplinary team of nurses, therapists and volunteers deliver the charity’s award-winning model of care providing emotional and practical support to individuals, families and carers enabling them to live fulfilled lives with hope no matter the diagnosis or prognosis.
Tickets cost £29.50 per person and this includes a welcome glass of fizz, two-course lunch with a glass of wine and tea or coffee to follow. For more information and to purchase tickets please call 01698 727505 or email scott@thehavencentre.com.
