Jean Devlin retires

Colleagues and family bid a fond farewell to Jean Devlin, management team secretary, who retired from NHS Lanarkshire in October after eight years service.

Jean, who was part of the north-east unit at Netherton House, Wishaw, joined NHS Lanarkshire in 2007 as a management team secretary for the Motherwell locality based at Strathclyde Hospital, Motherwell, a position she held until March 2010.

On 1 April 2010, Jean joined the north-east unit at Netherton House, again as management team secretary, a post in which she remained until her retirement.

Prior to joining the NHS, Jean worked in sales as an office manager for 26 years before her post was made redundant.

Jean is married to Eddie and lives in Waterloo, Wishaw.  She has one daughter Nicola (41) and a grandson Christian (aged five).

In her spare time, Jean enjoys weekends away, shopping and socialising with friends.  She also spends time looking after her 90-year-old elderly mother and collecting her grandson Christian from school from Monday to Wednesday.

Richard Burgon, north-east unit manager, said: “It has been a pleasure having Jean working in the management team – she is a genuinely lovely person. I would like to thank Jean for all her hard work over the last eight years, particularly the last five and a half within the north-east unit.  The team wishes her a long, happy and healthy retirement”.
