M74 closure starts tonight

Staff are being reminded of the weekend closure of the M74 north and southbound – from junction four (J4) Maryville to junction five (J5) Raith – which will take place from 8pm tonight (Friday 18 November) to 6am on Monday 21 November.
Bothwellpark Road Bridge, which sits to the north of junction five (J5) Raith, will be demolished to allow motorway widening as part of the works to upgrade the M74. This is the final structure to be demolished as part of the project.
The closure will result in significant disruption to the M74 north and southbound traffic on approach to the closure, as well as on the surrounding local roads. Major delays are expected on the diversion routes and road users are advised to avoid the surrounding area or use an alternative mode of transport.
