Margaret is a top manager

Congratulations to Margaret Kelly, cancer service manager at Monklands Hospital, who achieved a fantastic accolade at the recent Top Healthcare Manager Award.
Margaret was runner-up out of a total of 24 nominations for the award, run by the Institute of Healthcare Management Scotland (IHM).
The award is for managers who “have gone above and beyond to make sure that services to patients are the best they can be, who are an excellent leader and who make sure that their staff are always able to do their best.”
Margaret, who was nominated by Macmillan cancer improvement programme manager Lynn Mack, said she was delighted to win the award.
She was unable to attend the ceremony but IHM Scotland secretary Martin Hill made a special trip to Monklands to present her framed certificate.
Martin said: “The judges were very impressed by Margaret, particularly remarking that she ‘demonstrates commitment to person-centred care’ and describing her as ‘an approachable team player who is values driven’.
“The winner and the two runners-up were announced at our conference dinner on 8 October to an audience including the director general/chief executive of the NHS in Scotland, the vice president of the Institute of Health Improvement in Boston and a number of other senior leaders, including some chairs and chief executives of health boards in Scotland.”
