New holiday pay agreement
An agreement has been reached in partnership when calculating holiday pay.
A 52 week reference period will be used when calculating holiday pay ‘as if at work’ for employees.
Ann Marie Campbell, head of human resources (acute and property and support services), said: “This agreement has been developed and agreed in partnership which constitutes a Collective Agreement.
“It replaces the previous agreement reached in November 2013 in relation to the method of calculating pay during annual leave. Roll out has started and we aim to complete this process by April 2016.”
The automated SSTS (Scottish Standard Time System – the NHS Scotland time and attendance system) process for payment during annual leave will apply to staff who work during unsocial hours and/or participate in an on-call service for which additional payment is made.
Donald Spence, Unite partnership representative, said: “During periods of annual leave, pay for employees will be calculated as an average of the previous 52 weeks pay to include unsocial hours enhancements and on-call payments.
“When the description ‘annual leave’ is entered onto SSTS, the system automatically undertakes the average calculation to determine holiday pay.
“This automated solution will ensure a consistent approach for calculating holiday pay.”
