Nurses and midwives – remember your registration

Nurses and midwives - remember your registration

Nurses and midwives are being reminded of the importance of keeping their Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration up to date.

Every year nurses and midwives need to pay a renewal fee to maintain their registration with the NMC.

The NMC will notify you of the date your fee is due by letter or, if you have an NMC Online account, by email. So please make sure they have your current email address and check in your junk/spam folder.

Payment can be made in one annual lump sum of £120 or by quarterly direct debit.

If the payment has not reached the NMC for the last day of the relevant month, staff will be removed from the NMC register.

It takes an average of four weeks to return to the register. During the time staff are not on the register they cannot work as a registered nurse or midwife.
