Park smart – leave disabled bays for blue badge holders
To ensure that disabled people are able to conveniently use NHS Lanarkshire services, we provide designated parking bays at our hospitals and other sites.
John Paterson, property and support services (PSSD) general manager, said: “Disabled person’s parking bays are clearly marked in yellow to show that the space has been reserved for people who have mobility issues or another disability.
“These are intended for use by Blue Badge holders or those who can show they are in the process of receiving one. The Blue Badge scheme is for drivers or passengers with severe mobility problems, who need to park as close as possible to where they need to go.
“Many of our car parks are extremely busy and it can be difficult to find a space.
“However, all staff must ensure they do not use a disabled parking bay if they are not entitled to park there. This will help to avoid problems for people with disabilities who need to park their vehicles as near as possible to our buildings.”
