Pauline Yule retires

Friends and family bid a fond farewell to Pauline Yule who retired from NHS Lanarkshire in October after a remarkable 37 years service.

Pauline, a team leader with the public health team at Motherwell Health Centre, joined NHS Lanarkshire in 1978 when she was appointed as an auxiliary nurse at Law Hospital.

In 1979, Pauline went on to complete her nursing training after which she worked as a staff nurse in ward 23 (medical ward) at Law Hospital.

In 1981, Pauline trained in midwifery at Bellshill Maternity and, after qualifying, worked at William Smellie Memorial Hospital in Lanark. This was followed by stints with the evening service and treatment room.

In 1991, Pauline began her training as a health visitor and, once qualified, moved to the public health team at Motherwell Health Centre.  In 2000, Pauline was appointed as team leader, a post in which she remained until her retirement.

Pauline lives in Carluke and has two children Alister (30) and Gillian (28).  She also has three grandchildren Emily (one year), Graham (11) and Lee (14).

In her spare time, Pauline enjoys lunching with friends and keeping fit.  Her retiral will allow Pauline to spend more time with her grandchildren and socialise with friends.

Mari Rodgers, fellow team leader, said: “Pauline will be missed by all.  After spending a lifetime of tackling health inequalities in Lanarkshire, I know she will enjoy improving the quality of her leisure time with family and friends.  We wish Pauline the best of luck in her retirement”.
