Positive destinations for Barnardo’s kids

NHS Lanarkshire had the pleasure of attending Barnardo’s Celebrating Success Event in North Lanarkshire – a celebration of care experienced oung people. NHS Lanarkshire chief executive
Calum Campbell also attended on the first day to show his support for the awareness week.
Nancy Gilchrist, recruitment advisor, said: “These young people have been supported by Barnardo’s through their journey in education, employment and finding accommodation.
“The focus of the day was on the young people themselves, whose enthusiasm, hard-work positive attitudes and resilience has brought them to where they are today.”
Katelin Ramsay, a modern apprentice in HR recruitment, featured very highly within the event as she has come through the care system.
Katelin, has found her ‘positive destination’. Working has given her independence and built her confidence as well as many new skills.
“The event was very inspiring, attended by multiple partners, families and young people who have all recognised the necessity of working together to improve the destinations of young people in care.”
