Retirement of Christine Proudfoot

Colleagues paid a fond farewell to Christine Proudfoot who retired in June after 35 years service.
Christine, who was based within the physiotherapy department at Hairmyres Hospital, graduated in 1982 and thereafter started work as a basic grade physiotherapist with NHS Greater Glasgow. She worked there for four years, rotating through the Victoria, Philipshill Rutherglen Maternity Hospital and Govanhill Health Centre.
In 1986 Christine took up employment with NHS Lanarkshire at Hairmyres Hospital. In 1989 she was promoted to senior in medical then superintendent IV in 1995 followed by cardiac rehabilitation specialist physiotherapist and finally medical team lead.
Christine was part of the group that developed the SIGN guidelines for cardiac rehabilitation services nationally and has led the way in setting up cardiac rehabilitation in Lanarkshire.
Sheila McEwan, physiotherapy lead, said: “Christine has championed cardiac rehabilitation throughout Lanarkshire and is valued and respected by everybody that uses the service. We are very proud of all that she has achieved throughout her career and she will be greatly missed.”
