Elaine Headley Retires

Friends and colleagues gathered at a night out to celebrate the retirement of Elaine Headley who retired from NHS Lanarkshire in January.
Elaine began her career in 1978 as an auxiliary nurse at Bellshill Maternity Hospital. In 1979 she trained to become an enrolled nurse and, in 1981, secured a post with A&E at Law Hospital. In 1983 Elaine undertook a year’s course in orthopaedics before moving to the intensive therapy unit.
Elaine thereafter moved to Monklands Hospital where she worked in the orthopaedics department until 1990 before undertaking a bridging course.
In 1991 Elaine joined the renal service before moving on to bed management services in 1995.
In 1997 Elaine joined the emergency response unit before moving to the hospital emergency care team (HECT) in 2004, a position in which she remained until her retirement.
During her career Elaine was instrumental in founding and establishing ACAP Scotland and was invited by NHS Education for Scotland (NES) to interact with foreign delegates to discuss advanced practice. Elaine was also invited by NES to review updating the Advanced Practice toolkit.
