Retirement of Jenny Butchart

After 41 years’ service, senior nurse Jenny Butchart retired from NHS Lanarkshire in December.
Jenny, who was part of the East Kilbride and Strathaven locality, began her nurse training in 1976 at Glasgow Victoria Infirmary. In 1987, Jenny joined community nursing where she cared for the people of East Kilbride. During this time she progressed from staff nurse to district nurse then team leader and laterally as senior nurse.
Jenny is married to Stephen and lives in Westwood, East Kilbride. She has a son Scott, daughters Emma, Rhona and Kate and eight grandchildren Joseph, Alan, Sophie, Connor, Callum, Freya, Paige and Jude. In her spare time, Jenny enjoys walking, shopping and reading.
Jean Donaldson, associate director nursing, South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “Jenny is extremely professional, caring and considerate. She has been an excellent role model for all who have had the privilege to work alongside her over her long career – a career that she has dedicated to looking after the population of East Kilbride and supporting her fellow colleagues. Jenny will be missed by all but is wished a long and happy retirement by all the staff in East Kilbride locality, South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership and NHS Lanarkshire”.
