Staff’s charity disco drums up cancer cash

Three generous NHS Lanarkshire staff and one of their friends have raised over £2000 for cancer care.
They organised a charity disco and raffle, themed around St Andrew’s Day, and made £2220.
The sum will be split between Cancer Research UK and the Maggie’s Centre at Monklands Hospital in Airdrie, which supports people with cancer and their families.
The event was arranged by Tracy Dodd, a senior charge nurse at Wishaw General Hospital, Karin Hynes, a nurse at Wishaw, Yvonne Young, from the patient affairs department at the Kirklands HQ in Bothwell, and their friend Meg Dunn, from Motherwell, who works at Scottish Power.
The fundraiser was held in Motherwell FC’s Centenary Suite on 28 November.
Tracy said: “Cancer touches everyone’s lives so it’s important to have events like this.
“It was a great evening and we were overwhelmed by how so many people supported us by donating raffle prizes or by coming along.
“Special thanks for their very generous donations to the raffle go to the local Da Claudio restaurant, Motherwell Football Club, Alistair Lafferty from the Wealth Partnership in Motherwell, and Gillian Corbett, chief of nursing services at Wishaw General.”
