Whistle blowing policy update
Whistleblowing: safely raising concerns about risk, malpractice or wrong doing, is an updated policy approved by the Human Resources Forum.
This policy, which can be found on FirstPort, aims to reassure staff that it is safe and acceptable to raise concerns and to describe the correct process for staff to follow.
Irene Barkby, director of nursing, midwifery and allied health professions, said: “Staff have a right and duty to raise any concerns regarding the delivery of care or services to patients and we actively encourage you to do so.
“As part of this, you should utilise organisation management structures to do so however, if for any reason you feel they have not been heard, NHS Lanarkshire has a whistleblowing policy which is designed to help staff who feel they need to raise issues in confidence.”
