Our family missed out on a holiday last year due to unforseen circumstances. I became unwell and had to have a major operation last July. My husband had taken on a lot more responsibility as a Director and worked 12 hour day shifts Monday – Friday and 6 hours every Saturday leaving him with little free time. He managed to look after me, do all the cooking and shopping, walk our dog, keep the house and garden clean and tidy, support our 4 adult children, occasionally look after our 3 year old grandson visit his elderly mum and dad, maintain our allotment and many other things, all things he loved to do. He did so much that he became ‘burnt out’ and his work became too much for him. He had to give up his work or he would have had a breakdown. He stopped working as I started to get better but then one day soon after that my mum and I were walking my dog when an American bulldog came running from behind us and attacked my dog. There was no owner in sight. It was such a vicious dog and it was so horrific and terrifying. My mum and I were shouting for help as we tried to get the big dog to unclamp its jaws from around my dogs neck. As my mum pulled on the dogs collar it turned towards her and growled, she got a fright, let go of the collar and fell on the road. She tried to get up and couldn’t – she had a fractured hip and was taken to Monklands by ambulance with me by her side. She had a hip replacement and when she got home we looked after her well as I was recovering and my husband made all of her meals. At the time of the incident I thought my dog was dead as he had stopped whining in pain when he was being shaken about in that other dogs mouth but he miracuously survived, thank goodness. I’m just looking forward to a nice peaceful holiday this year and I think my husband, my mum and my little dog deserve it!
Great opportunity to revel in the beauty of the Scottish countryside in a little bit of luxury
My husband and are currently in need of a break as most of our free time is taken up by caring for our mum’s who both have dementia. circumstances at the moment mean we are limited to holidaying in the UK so a Forrest holiday break would allow us to relax and take in the great outdoors on our doorstep. a relaxing hot tub would be the icing on the cake! bring it on NHS and Forrest Holidays!!
