Your chance to take part in important patient safety survey

NHS Lanarkshire has launched a patient safety culture survey, running throughout October.

The Board is committed to putting patient safety as its top priority and has recently refreshed its prioritised plan for patient safety improvement.

Head of patient safety Jane Murkin said: “We are all striving to make real measurable improvements in the safety and care of our patients and we are already making significant progress in some areas, however we need your help and support to help us understand what patient safety means to our staff.

“Evidence suggests that the act of carrying out an organisational survey examining patient safety attitudes and consequently promoting conversations and raising the profile of patient safety has a positive impact on culture, regardless of the results of the survey itself.

“We undertook the baseline survey in 2014 and it was essential in informing our improvement work. We are repeating the culture survey throughout October and will be promoting it during Patient Safety Week (24 -28 October) to help raise awareness.

“We want to hear the views and opinions of all staff and the results will provide us with useful information to inform future work and next steps.”

Paper copies will be in all wards and areas

The survey is also available on the Patient Safety FirstPort site

Jane added: “The results of the survey will provide us with an assessment of safety culture and the findings will be used purely to support us in our endeavours to improve patient safety and to assist us with any further work and next steps. The results will be shared widely when available.”
